Upper Liesbeek River Garden

Went for a lovely picnic lunch in a fantastic pocket park that has been created by residents of Bishops Court Village in a very neglected short stretch of the Liesbeek River (just a little stream at this point really) that was severely neglected and degraded.

In 2004 when the community started the area was choked with weeds, the steep banks were eroding, and it was a haven for vagrants and a dumping ground. Now after much work they have created a paradise of indigenous gardens connected by peaceful pathways, and fairy picnic tables overlooking the bubbling stream.

Great for peaceful contemplation or children's exploring the creek or gardens. To find out more see the resident association web site at http://www.bvra.org.za/index.php/site/page/bishopscourt-village-river-project/
