Bike Routes on Google Maps

In case you haven't already heard, Google Maps has added bike directions and routes to its mapping service. Cyclists have been begging for this for a long time, and they've now rolled it out in 150 U.S. cities.


A Google Maps blog describes how routes are chosen, which shows that more thought is involved than just which streets have bike lanes.

Now we just have to get them to bring it to Australia!

NYC has a fantastic bicycle route generator that allows you to choose one of three route options, Safer route, safe route and direct route. find it here:
